Parent Workshops & Events
We offer Parenting Workshops and other educational and social gatherings for parents.

Some topics we cover:
  • Parenting Workshops
    • Parenting Alone: Discussions about single parenthood

    • Mothers Raising Sons and What About Our Daughters: Raising sons and daughters to become good men and women

    • Risky Business: Discussions about high-risk behaviors in children and teens

    • Not My Child: Learning to notice and address behaviors that many do not believe their children are engaged in

    • No Bullying Here: Discussions about bullying & cyber bullying, and how to determine (and react to) the signs of victim and perpetrator behavior

  • Parent Book Club (every Monday night at KAL)
    • About 20 parents, primarily mothers

    • Many of the books address mother-child relationship

    • Brings together many different generations (in one family, a mother, grandmother, and a KAL sixth grader all participate.)

  • Social Gatherings
    • Each grade level of KIPP teachers hosts one parent event every month, ranging from family game nights and talent shows to potluck dinners and parent cook-offs.
